The “Modern Day Feminism in a Beyonce World” conference will take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2015, from 9 am to 4 pm. This conference seeks to encourage, empower and engage young feminists and potential feminists to be advocates for gender equality. This conference recognizes the need to address these questions: “what is a feminist?”, “what is feminism?”, and “what is the importance of feminism?” Currently, the discourse of feminism and gender studies lacks a dialogue from young people.
This conferences seeks to provide a space for the young people of this generation, to apply their own theories, perspectives and experience to define a new modern definition of feminism, through pop culture references. We will engage participants by the planned collective activities that will engage them to apply their own perspective, and experiences to the discussed content.
