On February 13 th 2018, we will be holding a panel discussion on the topic of fake news and public opinion. Our panel, a required project for the School of Community and Public Affairs undergraduate degree, is entitled “Is Fake News Shaping Public Opinion?”. Fake news can be understood as false information purposely being spread under the pretext of being authentic news. Our panel will highlight the fake news created and spread on issues such as natural disasters, health, immigration, elections, etc. The first aim of our panel is to gather experts on the topic in order to educate the greater Concordia community about the issue of fake news and its ability to persuade public opinion.
