After a two week campus tour to inform to students across the province on the negative impacts the Energy East pipeline, ECO (Students Against the Pipelines) followed up with a student gathering on May 23-24 to allow students to delve deeper into issues relating to fossil fuel extraction, and learn how they can get involved on their campuses.
Within the context, ECO has decided to organize a weekend provincial student gathering to open up a discussion about the next steps the Quebec student movement should take in the global struggle to bring about a just energy transition to halt climate catastrophe. Saturday will be dedicated to workshops and lectures with experts and human rights activists working around the issues of climate change, fossil fuel extraction, energy transition, and federal and provincial politics. Sunday will be dedicated to how we can work together across province in the lead up to the elections to put climate change, the defining issue of the 21st Century, on the map.
