"Quinquefolia"
This team’s research and creation project explores the relationship between an invasive plant (Virginia Creeper) and a hostile urban environment. The plant is often thought to be destructive, however is entirely harmless. It provides benefits to the city’s ecosystem. Once the research had concluded, the Virginia Creeper was then used in a slow design process that uses discarded and fallen parts of the organism itself. This final object, a hanging macrame wall ornament, brings the plant into the interior urban environment.
