This email campaign aims to take action to support the movement to decriminalize sex work. The campaign will be facilitated through organizing a letter-writing campaign directed at legislators to show popular support for sex work decriminalization. The current laws around sex work should be struck down, and any further legislation regarding sex work should be drafted by sex workers and backed up with evidence-based research.
The goal is to launch a letter-writing campaign with an email zap tool hosted. This project was created after consultation with the Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform to ensure the email will reflect and truly improve the lives of those who practice sex work within Canada.
Through the website, participants will easily find their representative and send them an email template that has been vetted by the Canadian Alliance for Sex Law Reform. This will be done with the zap tool, simplifying the letter writing process, thus increasing public engagement. There will be educational resources on the website that the public may explore and links to other critical sex-work organizations leading the movement. Throughout this campaign, students will be encouraged to get involved in the fight to decriminalize sex work and engage with organizations’ existing networks.
