This project consists of constructing a hydroponic living wall in the Greenhouse Atrium. The wall will be constructed from recyclable and recycled materials and will replace an existing, temporary setup that is at the end of its shelf-life. The houseplants that will be installed originate from the Greenhouse and are already being propagated. The vertical setup of this system allows for the optimal use of space within the Greenhouse. The system will serve as a research prototype. We hope to construct several such systems around campus in the future. This will not only add to the aesthetics of Concordia, but furthermore improve the air quality of indoor spaces, by
absorbing harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and benzene. Our mission is to promote the knowledge of urban agriculture and sustainability by using the innovation of hydroponics.
