Carbon City is a card game about municipal politics and their effects on carbon emissions. Players are tasked with selecting policies that will earn them voters and compete to win elections over 12 years. The winner is determined by the amount of carbon they were able to have their city reduce while in power. Policies to consider include creating bike paths, subway stations, bus lanes, tolls roads, stadiums, gas taxes, business tax breaks, new zoning regulations, etc. The game will be made over the course of four months in consultation with professors in education, urban planning and environmental engineering. The money requested for the project will go into making a website and a Kickstarter, which will act as sites for purchase of the game. The game will be sold at cost as part of a not-for- profit project.
