The SAF-SAE GEM Electric Car Repair contract was undertaken in order to repair and purchase new electric batteries for the SAE GEM electric vehicle in an effort to promote sustainability. The electric car has a pretty good range; it is able to reach Loyola campus and back, and is therefore very useful to run errands that would normally total to a substantial amount in gas.

Everywhere it is driven, people are curious about the electric car and ask questions, at which point the member driving or the passenger has explained that it is an electric vehicle and the only licensed one to run on the road in Montreal, along with general information about its design and construction. It sparks a lot of interest and has raised awareness about sustainable vehicles.
